I am here, but not very visible. My left arm from shoulder to fingertips is still fucked. My left foot is fucked, too. Drugs don't work.

I have to be careful typing and it takes forever to work up an entry/comment, unless it is only a couple of words. Anything long is written slowly and kept private until I am done working on it, then times/dates adjusted and it is officially posted.

Well, there's your problem right there...
TOKYO (Reuters) - More sex.

That's what one expert says is needed to solve Japan's baby shortage.

"Japanese people simply aren't having sex," Dr. Kunio Kitamura, director of the Japan Family Planning Association, was quoted as saying by the Japan Times, an English language daily.

An association survey of 936 people between the ages of 16 and 49 showed 31 percent had not had sex for more than a month "for no particular reason" -- a condition known as "sexless."

"As much as subsidies and welfare programs are important, sexlessness is also a critical issue in this problem."

Japan's fertility rate -- the average number of children a woman bears in her lifetime -- fell to an all-time low of 1.25 last year. Demographers say a rate of 2.1 is needed to keep a population from declining.

Japan came last among 41 nations in a poll last year by condom manufacturer Durex, with lovers there having sex just 45 times a year compared to a global average of 103 times a year.

Kitamura said that while many men in workaholic Japan are simply too "stressed out" from their jobs to have enough energy for sex, many other couples simply do not have sex regularly.

In the association's survey, 44 percent of the people who said they weren't having much sex felt that having a relationship with the opposite sex was "very tiresome" or "tiresome."

Kitamura's advice? Couples should talk to each other.

"Ultimately, it's these interactions with the opposite sex that bring out the inevitable animal instinct in us -- to reproduce," he said.

Goodies

Look at the neat gift ainotorikomi sent me!

Aren't they cute? They are little Gravi buttons! I may have to use them on my dolls when I finally get an Eiri.

Next, see the little tags hanging off Shuichi's badge ribbon?

This is what they look like up close! These are two of the few things I purchased at a-kon this year.

And here is my hat I purchased at AnimeFest last year - see how even though the yarn textures are different, it still is a decent match to Shuichi's new hat?

I am going to go nurse my arm some more now...

My left arm from back of the shoulder to fingers is still fucked up from the con. rat found some large lumps in the arm and shoulder last night. I cannot help but grit my teeth and yell a stream of 'ouches' during the process but I feel better afterward.

Having my left arm out of commission means it is sometimes difficult to type, write and hold things - I am left-handed...

exhaustion and summer bugs - yuck

I can't seem to get back into gear. I go to bed early and sometimes even fall asleep immediately. However, if I nod off for a few minutes in front of the TV you can be sure I will be awake until 3am or later. I am exhausted at work and find myself going semi-conscious while sitting up. Not a pleasant sensation.

rat is walking around with a sniffly nose - he thinks he caught a mild cold at the con. I have a sniffly nose, too, but not to the extent rat has - he is a mucus head at the moment.

I really hate summer in TX if a hard freeze did not occur during the winter. It means we will be infested with bugs no matter how hard we try to keep them out.

Understand, I am really not one to kill things. I would much rather catch and release or circle and avoid, but sometimes the invasion gets to be too much.

Last night I counted nine roaches in the unused bathtub. (FYI: Roaches around here are about the size of minature horses, VW Beetles or large dogs) Usually, the tub only gets a max of four at one time so this was unusual. Instead of letting the 'deadly dust' slowly kill them, I sprayed and sprayed and watched them dash around the tub until they were all on their backs and twitching. A new one even fell down into the tub during the spray (making ten all together) and it had come from behind that glamour plate used for the tub stopper. I don't know what it is called - it's the lever used to close off the drain so the tub will fill. So now I finally know how they get in. In the past, I have watched them get their heads stuck as they scramble on the drain, trying to get out. You can hear them trying to fit into the little drain hole, with that dry scratchy sound. I always know we have roaches in the tub - I can hear that distinctive sound. I also did the big kill last night because rat actually woke up the night before and caught one crawling on his arm. They come in when it is too dry or too wet.

We have also been fighting an ant resurgence. The ones that live in the electrical plug in my bathroom actually stand in a row and wait for me to feed them the sweet poison. The ones at the kitchen sink seem to be gone now, as well as the ones on the stove. We cannot find the trails to stop them as they are coming from behind heavy objects, like stackable washer/dryers. The first trail that was going after my dolls have stopped but even after moving the doll sofa to another part of the room, the ants still found Shu and Chikara. I opened Shu's head last night with the intent to remove his eyes and reglue his eyelashes yet again and a swarm was having a party in his head. I immediately squashed them all with my thumb and chased some along his body, squishing as I went. The bait I put on the doll sofa last night was not being touched this morning. I need to try another type of paper to tempt them.

Well, I need to go to sleep now...

Jyorougumo
You scored 31 in Malice and 11 in Chaos!
The Jyorougumo, or "Spider demon," is a demon of the class "Henge," or shape-shifting demons. Jyorougumo is a terrible beast which normally disguises itself as a woman, much like a cat-demon, in order to seduce men and drain the life from them during lovemaking. Unlike the Obakeneko, however, the spider demon is just as comfortable remaining in its true form, residing in caves and dark places where it devours those who pass by. It is also highly selective in its choice of prey; Jyorougumo will not attack those it calculates to be of greater strength than itself, for it is also a cowardly demon. Its most common prey are women, children, and feeble old men.

The Jyorougumo has no other purpose in life but to feed, and takes great pleasure in slowly and agonizingly sucking the life from its victims. It will whisper horrible threats to its prey, hoping to evoke the kind of fear and terror which demons of the underworld thrive on. There is no befriending an Jyorougumo; they have no need for companionship and no respect for bravery or honor. The Jyorougumo is truly a terrible beast.

Whew!

My whole body hurts.

The con was fun.

We rode the train this weekend, to and fro.

I am whipped.

I saw a lot of my anime club students.

We had fun cell painting.

A BUTTLOAD more cosplay this year.

Shuichi was a BIG hit, riding around in his doll sling and wearing his new hot pink kitty hat.

I am glad I had a rib brace - I haven't been in pain the following day.

I met new people who have dolls and saw some people from the last meetup.

I didn't spend a lot of money - yay!

I took lots of photos.

we saw a LOT more dolls at this con than ever before.

I saw people I only see at cons and we had fun smiling and waving and hugging.

Went to a great panel on wigs and colouring them with Sharpies.

I think I am going to take some drugs and melt.

Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges!

Chikara models his new badge for a-kon this weekend:

As you can see, I got the badges finished last night. I did not use laminate. It's packing tape, as stiff as laminate when layered together.

We will be picking up our badges Thursday night. I hope at least the Friday schedule will be ready because they haven't posted anything on the web yet. One year they did NOT have the schedule on Thursday night and I had to get there early, just to get it and find out I didn't care about anything until later that morning. With my health issues taking even more of a toll on my body this year, I really do not want to be there until something I want to do (like a panel) happens.

I need to colour my roots tonight - it's the last night I can do it.

I got zero sleep last night. I took my nap early yesterday and I still could not sleep. Blegh...

First day to take the calcium 'eater' blocker. I cannot tell if I am supposed to avoid calcium or not today - the pill container shows the calcium being taken the other days. Time to call the doc and ask some questions. I have some calcium with Vitamin D tabs to take so I will pack a few today.

You know, all these pills have caused me to develop a gag reflex for the first time in my life. I had problems at the dentist when they stuck the dry paper x-ray dealies, too. I really do hate this at times...

Another interesting event - mother nature hit on what used to be the usual night but had changed during the last few years. Happy cramps for the first time in forever. What is up, body? Is this your last gasp or is it because my body is finally experiencing some sense of normalcy for the first time in who-knows-how-long?

This is the first day of classes for the Summer semester and I know the Snake will not be there to direct students like the ex-boss used to do. I know I will not be out there doing it. The idiot powers-that-be-in-Admin made us take down the accurate signage so the students have to depend on the crappy signage. Time to show the front desk the chart I made so they can give directions. Maybe I should put out the arrow signs on our portable sign-on-a-stick...

Parking will suck big time so I plan on leaving extra-early this morning.

Shuichi is going with me. He is a calming influence. He may not be cuddly but he is amusing and I can still carry him around. It's fun being old - I can do things others consider crazy and I really don't give a shit. Remember, I wear a Kumagorou hat or a hot pink fuzzy hat with cat ears to work when it's cold and the walk from the parking lot to the building is about five minutes. People see me. I really don't care. I smile and wave.

bad to the bone

For years, I have said I have a 25 year-old mind living in a 85 year-old body.

The latest prognosis confirms what I have been saying for some time.

I am going to start the crap on Monday. I wanted to give myself a few more days of freedom before I have to do it for life.

I am resolved to it. My mother broke her hip in her mid-30's, which nowdays would be a definite indicator she had it at a young age, too. She broke her foot twice, just from walking in wedgies and slight heels. Her bones are crap, my grandmother and great-grandmother's bones were crap and mine are, too.

So, to celebrate, I made a new icon for my main lj. Might as well laugh about it.

Well, it just keeps getting worse.

I got up with rat this morning instead of sleeping an extra hour, rushed around to get ready, drove the half-hour to the rheumatologist, only to discover I was an hour early. Ugh.

So I drove a bit to find a McDonalds and had more breakfast (with milk) and played a cell phone game to kill time. I got back about 10 minutes before the appointment. The door was locked. Ten minutes AFTER my appointment time, the door is still locked. So I call the main number and decide to call the emergency number listed in the phone message. The doc answered and was five minutes away.

The doc gets there and lets me in and shortly thereafter I am in the exam room looking at pics of my bones. Seems my bones are crappy. I have pretty bad osteoporosis for my age group and the doc is surprised I haven't broken a major bone yet.

Anyway... I will now have to be sure to have enough calcium and vitamin D in my diet (or take supplements), plus start some weight training (walk with weights or lift handweights while sitting down) and take Actonel to block osteoclasts from reabsorbing bone so more osteoblasts can build bone.

Whee...

Last night, we finally completed Final Fantasy 6. I really wanted to do some other things last night but rat was really itching to go. It was nice to have most of the characters' levels around 86 to 99 - it made it easier to stay alive!

We immediately jumped into Kingdom Hearts 1. The PS2 did not want to recognize any of our usual controllers, so rat had to pull out our collectable Vegeta controller, which could be read by the game. Yes, we have a Vegeta controller. Our PS2 bag is the Dragonball Z one.

I really need to do some stuff for myself tonight so I hope he does not want to game. Maybe I can get him to take some time and find some walk-throughs for us...
